Softball – Samford and Oklahoma State Preview

After getting off to a
hot start in SCC Play, the Rebels take a break
from conference action but welcome two more tough
foes into town this weekend. The Rebels took two of
three games from Arkansas over the weekend winning their
opening conference series for the first time since 2012. After dropping game one,
Ole Miss bounced back and run rolled the Razorbacks on
Sunday and closed out the series
with a six-two win on Monday. Molly Jacobson got the dub in
both games throwing nine plus innings,
giving up just one earned run with 13 strikeouts. She’s now eight and one on the
season. Brittany Finney is getting
it done in the circle and at the plate. She got the save in
game three over Arkansas and had back to back games with
a homer. Giving her a team best six on
the season. And then there was the play that everybody was talking
about. One out in the seventh, Kylan Becker robs Arkansas of a
homer. One of the best defensive
plays you’ll ever see in any sport. The Rebels took that
momentum into the mid week run rolling Memphis
eight-nothing. Gabby Alvarez’s pinch hit RBI
sealed the deal for Ole Miss in the sixth inning. Momentum is the key word
for Ole Miss this weekend. The Rebels have won nine
of their last ten games. They welcome Sanford and
Oklahoma State to town this weekend. If you can’t get out to the
ballpark, you can catch the action on the
ESPN app. And as always keep up with
updates at olemisssports.com.
