SSC Lady Bulldog Softball Region 4 Playoff vs McHenry County

Hey, It’s Noah, your host of ‘Home Game Heroes’. The Head Coach of the Lady Bulldog softball
team, Ken Crandol, will tell you that this years season has been quite up and down. That scenario was no different in the regional
quarterfinals. SSC lost to McHenry 2 games to 1, in the best
of three series playoff. Game one, South Suburban was up 3-1 after
a couple of RBI singles by Jessica Lee and Izabell Sanchez. A bad defensive inning in the 5th cost the
Bulldogs, as McHenry scored four times. The Lady Scots put the game out of reach when
Jaelyn Howard blasted a 3-run homer in the seventh to give McHenry a 10-3 victory. Game two was tightly contested until the bottom
of the 4th when Analisa Cardenas singled home Jessica Lee. The Lady Bulldogs plated 3 runs in the 5th,
then 5 runs in the 6th, including Layla Melendez 2-run double. Final score game two, 10-2 SSC. South Suburban seemed to have all the momentum,
but it turned quickly as the Lady Scots scored 5 runs in the third inning in game three. McHenry starting pitcher Hailey Baker scattered
7 hits, giving up only 2 runs. After giving up back to back singles to open
the sixth inning, Baker got the Bulldogs on a line out to 3rd and a ground out to second,
effectively ending the game with a 6-2 McHenry victory. Despite the loss, Coach Crandol and I agreed
that second basemen Jessica Lee was the outstanding player of the day. The sophomore from Beecher, Illinois went
7 for 10 on the day with 3 runs, 3 RBI, a stolen base and some nifty defensive work. Jessica is our ‘Home Game Hero’. South Suburban finished the season with a
26-25-2 record. For ‘Home Game Heroes’ I am Noah Nowicki and
we will see you next time!!.
