Three-Ball Blocking Drill | Softball Catcher Drills

Softball Catcher Drills: Three Ball Blocking
Drill [Intro Music]>>AJ Hamilton: The three ball blocking drill
is a great way to get loose before a game or to make sure your blocking technique is
correct. This drill allows the catcher to check their
own fundamentals without the impact of the thrown softball.>>Hamilton: Start by setting up three softballs
on the ground in front of the plate, one in the middle and one on each side. At the catcher’s own pace, they will block
each softball, making sure their hips, chest and head are behind the ball.>>Hamilton: For lateral pitches, the athlete
should make sure their body is angled slightly back toward the plate. You want to focus on centering the ball off
of your chest and keeping it in front of you.>>Hamilton: The three ball blocking drill
is a great fundamental drill for catchers to complete on their own. By using this drill, the catcher is able to
move at their own pace and hold themselves accountable to get into a successful blocking
position. [Outro Music]
